The element of Earth is represented in our workout as strength, and it takes time and patience to develop strength, both emotionally and physically. You can become frustrated if you expect to start strong from the very beginning. This exercise is to help you focus on developing patience as your become stronger , ideally done at night as Earth is the element of Midnight when world rests in darkness, but it can help to calm you anytime. This exercise will take a minimum of 3 to 5 minutes, but can be longer, the duration is up to you.

Sit comfortably either on the floor or in a chair facing the north with arms relaxed to the sides, hands resting on your thighs. Close your eyes and turn your focus inward to the center of your body. Take a deep breath and say

Guardians of the North, Guardians of Earth

I summon your power to increase my patience

Thank you for the strength that allows my body to endure and my mind to grow

I grow stronger and healthier with each movement I make

So mote it be

Take a deep breath, then as you exhale,  imagine that you are pulling energy from the earth. Imagine energy as a glowing green light, and as you breathe slowly in and out, the light fills you from your feet all the way through your body to the top of your head. Visualize your body very slowly filling with glowing green light, keeping your breath slow and even. Once you have visualized the light filling you all the way to the very top of your head, sit and imagine your entire body glowing green. Take at least 8 slow deep breaths, in and out, more if you like, until you feel calm, centered and peaceful.  After your last inward breath, blow your last exhalation out slowly and smoothly, imagining the glowing green energy exiting your body and returning to the earth. To close your meditation, say

Thank you, Guardians of the North, Guardians of Earth. Thank you for the power of patience. Return to the North, return to the night. I bid you hail and farewell.
